The problem proposed is that the field of optometry and eye
care is developing and expanding due to innovations in technology. And optical’s
and optometrist’s feel threatened that their jobs and businesses may become
obsolete. I propose that I provide a product/service where new innovations in
the field of optometry are easily accessible and easy to read. Where tech
companies as well as other eye care companies are put on the magazine and
online site to show what they are coming out with. And in that service have company
numbers that can teach optometrist’s about the new innovations so they can know
what to expect and how to use it. It may be a subscription newspaper for
optometry innovation. There are similar subscriptions, but I believe I can
create a product/service that is accessible online and physical copies. And
with the subscription have videos that show the new innovation, how it is used,
what to expect, and where to learn how to use it.

ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting post. Not many people would see the expansion of technology in a medical field as an issue. One thing I am curious about in your post is that you stated that those in the field currently are worried their jobs will become obsolete and that eventually people will be able to do these procedures by themselves. However what you proposed was to make the innovations be advertised more and easier to understand. I am curious how this would help those with jobs in the field and not hurt them. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you mean exactly.

ReplyDeleteI believe that like every other job, optometrists need to be constantly reading and being informed about the new discoveries and technologies. I think that having a newspaper would not be a good idea just because of how the field is constantly changing. However, an online platform seems more interesting and easier to update. I believe that it would be important to make this site accessible to patients as well.

ReplyDeleteAs someone who where glasses constantly so that I can improve my sight to be able to see the world around me. So personally I absolutely want the field to be the best it can be and any medical field is always changing so I think working to be able to help better inform any field is important. I do have to say that I do agree with Jazmin I think that doing the online platform would be better than doing a paper version. It would be easier to update and maintain and it would be more up to date itself.
